Since fossil fuels prices are increasing each year, this makes people worried about their future heating bills. Using biomass instead is becoming more and more popular. Corn can actually be used for fuel.

President Bush had said that the USA has a bad oil addiction. Throw in the negative environmental impact of using fossil fuels, and it becomes apparent a change is needed. Currently, biomass is the best alternative. Biomass is the energy obtained from burning animal wastes and excess crops.
Corn is very much in excess, which is ironic since there are so many people in the world with nothing to eat. You can use corn as a source of biomass. Corn has plenty of energy in each kernel. When used with a heating system, they produce as much heat as traditional furnaces, but at a much lower cost.
Biomass corn energy can be obtained from dry shelled corn. Unlike the edible variety, the corn does not have to be of high quality stock. The shelled corns should just be dry and free of husk fibres.
You use corn for heat just as you would wood. A stove would be used and corn would be heated instead of wood. It doesn't take much effort on your part. You can have shelled corn delivered to your house, and you store these in a tank. The heating system might require additional fuel, so when the thermostat senses that the heat is not enough, the storage tank will open. This will cause a set amount of corn to fall into the furnace, which ensures you that you get enough heat. The heat from the furnace will be piped into a home using the same duct system that you would use with an electric heating system.
When you use corn for fuel, you'll save much when you compare using oil, coal, or natural gas. You save as much as 75% if you compare it with buying energy for your home's heating system.
It might seem unlikely at first when you say using corn for fuel. But it's actually the most popular type of furnace searched for online. That should tell you something about its popularity and viability.
