July 2011- AT&T stepped up to be the first telecommunications company to sign on with Bloom Energy for new electric power. The two companies signed an agreement today that eleven new technology electric generators will be built in sites across California

Bloom Energy servers are base on research done in NASA for energy production on other planets. This new technology has its foundations based on fuel cells made from solid oxide. The brilliance behind this technology is the way the filter only allows oxygen to pass it in one direction. So with oxygen rich air on on side of this unique filter and a typical fuel like natural gas on the other side of the filter, a unique chemical reaction occurs to generate electricity. The results anticipated by the two companies is a real 7 Mw of pure clean and cost affective electricity with less then 50% polutants than other power plants.

"AT&T is dedicated to applying alternative power to our business operations as part of our on going commitment to reduce our pollution emmisions and improvement to the environment as a whole by increasing our alternative energy portfolio. Bloom Energy provided us with a solution that was not only cost comparable but additionally allows us to minimize environmental impact," said John Schinter, the spokes person from AT&T.

It will take some time for all of these eleven servers to be fully operational but once they are running full speed the capacity expect is over 62 million kilowatt hours (kwh) which is the annual capacity of 5,500 homes each year in cities like Corona, Fontana, Hayword, Pasedena and others in California.

"Bloom Energy is thrilled to be working with AT&T in delivering succes to their new goals," said Bill Thayer, from Bloom Energy. "With a shared vision of reliability, environmental stewardship, and innovation, Bloom Energy and AT&T's collaborative efforts will certainly have a great impact to all the residents in California."

One of the major advantages of the Bloom Energy Servers in the reduction in pollutants dumped into the environment. These servers will avoid over 240 million pounds of CO2 emmisions. This is more than what 3500 cars on the road emit.

The bigger story of AT&T is its dedication in 2010 to deliver three million KWH annually by solar or alternative energy production sources in the year 2011. Plus they have 19 other plans in the making
