Rock stain is yet another aspect of reclamation that must be addressed once construction is completed. While not usually a first thought in the finishing of construction, rock staining is a very important aspect of reclamation because color is very important to the natural world.

The local soils are impacted by many different factors including loss or gain of water content, change in pH values due to loss of vegetation or accidental addition of foreign chemicals. Even the rock and stone in an area is impacted by construction. In order to protect our environment from such waste and disruptions the EPA, or Environmental Protection Agency, has developed a list of rules that outline the practices and procedures construction companies must follow once they have completed projects.

The regulations provided by the EPA include but are not limited to addressing the areas of hazardous and toxic wastes and contaminated soil and water as well as air quality. The Environmental Protection Agency is concerned with risks to human health as well as environmental risks that can be attributed to construction.

The water levels found in soil contribute to its quality and quantity of air content as well. Water and air content in a soil vary greatly from one place to another and contribute to the many different ecosystems found on Earth.

Think: wetlands versus deserts! Due to the extremity of these two places it is easy to see why it would be so important for a construction company to restore the stability of an area's soil once construction is complete.
