If you're headed into the green industry, you've probably heard of or even spoken with green job recruiters. Because you are intently focused on landing a green collar job, this might seem like the best way to improve your overall prospects. It's not necessarily a bad idea to touch base, find out about the company and what jobs might be available, but while you are on your fishing expedition be careful about being talked into signing any contracts. Use the first time you meet with a green job recruiter (which is likely to be on campus or at a job fair) as a method of getting your questions answered.

Green job recruiters are looking for individuals that can fill the various jobs that are offered in the industry, but don't believe that you just slide into one of these positions. Essentially, with the exception of assembly jobs, most of these positions require some science education. Ecology is a science, and understanding the impact we have on it requires scientific data and development.

Whether you have gone through an entire degree or you are one of the displaced, green jobs are not as easy to get as one might think. Political and social movements keep looking to the green job market to become as powerful as the stock market once was. Get informed as early as possible when you are speaking to the green job recruiter. This way you know immediately if you can fill the shoes of the green industry.

Until there is steady construction of solar panels and wind turbines there will not be many laborer positions available. Green building jobs are the ones to focus on for labor positions.

The most valuable aspect of a green job recruiter is their ability to put you in touch with a direct line to positions that are open. Some experts say that even if you give your resume to the recruiter, you send one in independently once you know your education and experience might qualify you for the job. Submit your resume online, especially if you post it to specific sites that are literally trolling for green job talent. Search engine optimization of your resume is recommended.

All job recruiters are hired to find good employees and make good deals with them. This can include the salary expectations. Don't let a green job recruiter fill you in on the basic salary expectations. Know your basic facts so that you are aware when you are being pitched versus receiving an offer.

You definitely can benefit from a simple conversation with a green job recruiter and you can even come out ahead. Be careful about signing contracts on the spot, especially for jobs that are not being advertised.

Gather the necessary information that you need in order to become enlightened about a job opening that the green job recruiter is willing to fill you in on. Keep in mind that a recruiter can be helpful as not all jobs are open to general applications and are never advertised. Give the recruiter enough to take back to the company while coming away with enough information to keep moving forward on your own.
