91: Reduce Utility Bills With Retail Energy Management
A bill being proposed by the U.S. Congress has caused storeowners to focus on retail energy management when it comes to improving their energy efficiency. The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 call for a cap and trade program in certain industries, the reduction in carbon emissions as well as a proposal to depend on renewable energy sources for as much as 25% of energy used by the year 2020. Efficiency standards are set for a large number of companies.

92: Retail Energy Management Initiatives Reap Dividends
The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 has caused storeowners to focus on retail energy management. The bill, being proposed by the U.S. Congress, dictates improved energy efficiency and calls for a reduction in carbon emissions, a cap and trade program for certain industries, and proposes that renewable energy sources account for 25% of all energy used by the year 2020. Energy efficiency standards are set for a large number of companies.

93: Demand Response Programs Strike An Energy Balance
When it comes to energy management during times of peak usage, demand response programs are becoming increasingly popular. These programs allow companies to oversee their energy loads at each one of their locations, collectively or individually. Controls can be implemented and energy demands addressed, by location or even by device. Individual savings can be achieved as a result of the use of automated controls.

94: The Need For Energy Asset Management
In terms of energy asset management, companies collect data from energy systems across the entire organization. This data is then evaluated by management so that the efficiency of the systems can be classified and measures taken to improve energy use. As the Climate Registry urges companies to reduce their energy consumption, this procedure can in turn lower carbon emissions and reduce global warming potential.

95: Using A Carbon Footprint Calculator To Curb Global Warming
As most companies need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, so they turn to a carbon footprint calculator. Organizations can now much more easily recognize their greenhouse gas emissions, put in place measures to reduce and then assess benchmarks to see how they are progressing.

96: A Carbon Footprint Calculator Is A Vital Resource
Faced with the knowledge that almost every facility gives out some type of greenhouse gas, a carbon footprint calculator has come into its' own, to help organizations reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. The calculator allows them to more easily recognize the problem, put in place measures to reduce emissions and then gauge their progress.

97: Climate Registry Defines Organizational Boundaries
Organizational boundaries define requirements for accounting and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions. These boundaries are contained within the Climate Registry, and specifically define the emissions that an entity tracks and reports. In the United States, companies are providing this information to help in the reduction of global warming.

98: The Climate Registry's Materiality Definition Explained
The materiality definition in The Climate Registry is part of its general verification protocol (GVP). It allows for a threshold of 5%, either over or under statement, of an entitys direct or indirect emissions of greenhouse gases. Direct emissions refers to occurrence onsite from the source, such as when refrigerant gas discharges during a leak. Indirect emissions refer to the use of resources or goods that discharge greenhouse gases during their production.

99: Carbon Reporting Initiatives Pending
The US Environmental Protection Agency has found that harmful chemicals, emitted as greenhouse gases by certain industries, play a major role in climate change. Thus a carbon reporting plan has been put forward by the EPA, and this serves as a major step towards the regulation and reduction of greenhouse gases.

100: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Determined by Additionality
Companies that have facilities which use refrigeration and air-conditioning systems or heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems have to measure changes which are imposed upon them due to greenhouse gas emissions. Additionality is a measure which compares the level of emissions prior to implementation with the levels after a greenhouse gas reduction project has been introduced.
