A summer holiday can be one of the most exciting times of the year and after the rain and cold winters notorious to the UK many holidaymakers will often make early bookings for their forthcoming foreign holidays choosing to relax and unwind in warmer climates. However, regardless of whether a warm beach holiday or an exhilarating ski holiday has been booked there are some key holiday essentials which you should never travel without.

Sun cream with SPF. Obviously, only applicable if you're going to a destination with a sunny climate but then UK holidaymakers tend to make this a priority when deciding upon a destination. If this is your plan, you will need to protect yourself from the sun or the pain you feel will cancel out the pleasure you get from the sunshine. You will only be annoyed with yourself if you have a peeling tan and feeling burnt all because you forgot to pack sun cream.

Digital camera. Most people's favourite snaps are usually taken on holiday and forgetting to take it with you can lead to disappointment. Social networks like Facebook and photo sharing sites such as Flickr has made digital photography a more popular pastime with the ability ton share photos with friends and family instantly. If they know you are going on holiday, they will expect to see your snaps sooner rather than later.

Passport and tickets. You won't even get on the plane without your passport so this needs to be one of your top priorities. Unfortunately, it is the item that some travellers find they have forgotten when they reach the airport. The only other item as important is your plane tickets. You may not pack these in your suitcase but they should at least go in your hand luggage. Don't risk losing them by casually slipping them into your pocket.

Holiday insurance. This is another essential item which you must arrange in advance. If one of your party or any of your luggage disappears or the holiday is cancelled by the travel company or airline, your holiday insurance will cover you. So ensure that you pack all the documentation necessary to prove that you are covered, just in case.
