So, you've resolved it's a good time you begin losing a little weight, and that exercising frequently would be a good place to start. If you haven't exercised in a long time, or never, you may not know how to get going. It might even be a little scary, commitment wise. But don't worry, there's a simple way to exercise once again: walking! Whatever exercise program you opt to go for, walking should be an integral part of it.
You'll be astonished how easy it is to squeeze walking into your workout program. This is easy if you have a dog - simply take it for at least one 10 minute plus walk each day. After a week, you'll have walked a minimum of seventy minutes more than if you hadn't done it at all. Do you want to get a little more exercise? Take your dog for two walks every day. Another thing you might consider is walking part of the way to workplace; you can make this as long as you want by simply stopping short of your workplace. Evidently, if you live quite far from, your work, it's not such a good idea to walk all the way there every day (but feel free to try if you think you can do it!) Of course, you'll need to walk back at the end of your work day, too, so that doubles the time you work out - a very good thing! But then, if you use public transport to go to work, just use a bus stop farther away than the one you normally use. Adding more walking into your everyday agenda is a breeze.
If you wish to be healthier overall, you can't lose by walking. The reason is that walking is one of the most effective aerobic workouts. This means it's not only good for your heart, but you'll get rid of extra pounds as well. You don't have to worry about overworking your joints or muscles like when running, because you can go as slowly as you must. I have a brother who's one of those people who consumes a ton of junk and fast food but never gains weight. How does he do it? He tells me doesn't know how he does it, but he mention that he goes for a walk every day. At the least it now adds up. There is no good reason not to exercise, when walking is so uncomplicated.
You'll have a better likelihood of sticking with your walking program if you just make it part of your everyday routine. Then, with a proper, nourishing diet, you'll also start losing weight as if by magic. By walking you'll also feel better and you won't be discouraged by it since it's not strenuous at all, which will make you feel more motivated. Before you know it, you'll be looking forward to your regular walks and considering going on walks even more. If you believe you can do more - don't hold yourself back. Who knows? It could be that you'll get used to walking a lot that you decide to give jogging a try. From there, you can progress to more vigorous exercises.
There should be no excuse for you to not take a walk even if it's a short distance daily. No matter how hectic your day is, you can surely find 10 minutes here and there for a quick walk. Another possibility is to join a gym and use their treadmill's for a half hour or so daily.
