At one time, being commonplace in the work environment, coolers were not found elsewhere. The concerns that people have over pollutants have caused more people to invest in a home water cooler. The main expense is the base unit and what it does.

The home owner has different styles they can choose from. One is is hooked up to your own supply if you have no qualms about drinking it. The second will produce cold liquid from a bottle that sits atop the unit. Last, there are the units that can provide both hot and cold liquid. The more the base does, the more costly it will be.

Standing about three feet high before the bottle is put on, these units do not take up a lot of floor space. There are some that fit on counters, but unless you have a large kitchen, this style can take up precious work space. Additional filters can be placed in the units if more purification is desired.

The bottles hold five gallons, but it is possible to get three gallon bottles if you live alone and use it just for drinking. Operation is a snap. Simply press the appropriate lever, and hot or cold drinks are dispensed. When the bottle is empty, return it to the store and purchase another bottle. Home delivery is available for those who want it, but you will pay for the service along with the cost of the bottle that is delivered.

Not all bottled drinking liquid is created equal. There are actually two different kinds; spring and purified. A study conducted by the FDA shows that seventy five percent of home cooler owners, bought spring water. Known for the purity of its taste, it comes from underground sources. That can be rivers, lakes, artesian wells, and springs.

When it is referred to as purified it is often the same that has been piped directly into our home. Suppliers take it and put it through a purification process to make sure it is free of all pollutants. Bottlers will use reverse osmosis, filters, or distillation to clean the liquid. This makes up the other twenty five percent of the FDA study. Many users will attest to a taste that is left behind after the supply has been purified.

Before you go out and buy a base unit, take some time to reflect on the family needs. You may just want a cool, refreshing drink; the cold and the hot choices; or one that offers cold and room temperature for cooking. Despite the number of choices, a home water cooler will deliver water that is pollution free.
